Bio

Will Kirschenman is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Operations Research Program at NC State University. His research focuses on addressing limitations in classical two-dimensional bin packing problems by developing a novel prioritization-driven framework that integrates operational priorities and concepts from Facility Layout Planning. This framework utilizes a flexible weighted-distance objective function, and his work develops and evaluates decomposition-based solution methodologies that provide significant improvements in computational efficiency for realistic problem instances, balancing spatial utilization with operational needs for applications in military logistics and broader industrial contexts.
