Will Kirschenman is a Ph.D. student in the Operations Research Program. He commissioned as an Engineer Officer in the U.S. Army in 2010 and transferred to the FA49 Operations Research / Systems Analyst (ORSA) career field in 2018. He spent several years as a combat operations analyst at The Research and Analysis Center under Army Futures Command before coming to NCSU. Kirschenman is married to his wife, Aram, and has three children: William, Aria and Louis. In his free time, Kirschenman enjoys working out, the outdoors, and spending time with his family.
Research Interests
Kirschenman’s research interests include large-scale combinatorial optimization and conducting military logistics in a contested environment. He is currently researching methods for vessel selection and loading with multiple levels of prioritization and group unity, with the objective of quickly unloading a large deploying force at a contested port to quickly assemble into a combat formation for follow-on operations.
