The Operations Research (OR) community came together for a night to remember at the Second Annual OR Alumni Reunion, held at Trophy Brewing and Pizza.
Maria Mayorga, the new director of the OR Program, set the tone for the evening with her welcoming comments. She provided insightful updates about the program’s recent developments and shared exciting plans for the future, sparking enthusiasm among attendees.
Attendees were treated to a delightful dinner experience featuring a mouthwatering selection of specialty pizzas, appetizers, desserts and beverages. The aroma of freshly baked pizzas filled the air as guests mingled and enjoyed each other’s company.
The OR Program’s interdisciplinary essence was highlighted through remarks delivered by deans from the Engineering and Management College. Their words resonated with the audience, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and innovation in Operations Research.
The reunion provided a platform to celebrate the accomplishments of both past and present OR students. The newest graduates were recognized for their hard work and dedication, receiving applause and well-deserved accolades from their peers.
The evening reached its pinnacle with the presentation of the Salah E. Elmaghraby Distinguished Student Award. This prestigious accolade honored a standout OR community member for their exceptional contributions and leadership. This year’s winner was Ph.D. Student Cameron Lisy.
