Popular spaces for work and study include the Learning Commons; separate commons spaces for faculty members and graduate students; and quieter areas, such as the Special Collections Reading Room, the Quiet Reading Room, and study seating in the bookstacks towers.
The Makerspace, Digital Media Lab, and Virtual Reality Studio provide specialized equipment, services, and workshops. The Hill of Beans Café offers coffee and snacks.

James B. Hunt Library
Popular spaces for work and study include four reading rooms—the Rain Garden Reading Lounge, the Quiet Reading Room, the Oval View Reading Room, and the Skyline Reading Room. The library offers separate commons workspaces for faculty members and graduate students; audio rooms and media studios; the Dataspace; The Landing; the Teaching and Visualization Lab; and the Common Grounds Café. The Hunt Library also features a world-class collection of iconic 20th- and 21st-century furniture selected to enhance the use of each space.
To help make room for all of these research and collaboration spaces, the library has implemented the bookBot—an automated storage and retrieval system that takes up only one-ninth the space of traditionalopen shelving to hold the same number of volumes. While there are 10,000 volumes on open shelving for browsing in the Hunt Library, the bookBot can store up to 2 million volumes in its 18,000 bins.
